I was wondering if i have to file my taxes if i’m currently umemployed and have been since 2004 because of a car accident,and I have no income besides the settlement money from the car accident. And if i do what form should i fill out. Thanks

If the settlement was for damages only, you do not need to file a return. If some of the settlement was punitive, then you may have to file, depending on how much was punitive. If you will contact AARP in your area, they have free sites for assisting low income people with their tax problems. They will find an answer for you, at no cost to you.
