In the State of Ohio does a person have to claim their child support received as income on their tax return? What about the State of Michigan?

Nope, child support is not taxable and not required to be reported as income. Alimony is taxable and required to reported as income to the recipient.

no concern ,don’t think it will effect you much !since you will gain in the claiming of the child!

For Federal income tax, child support can’t be deducted by the payer and is not claimed by the recipient. My Ohio state income tax form does not have an adjustment for child support. I haven’t checked Michigan, but I expect the same applies.
