I filed my taxes back in January using Turbotax online. Now I know the word has been going around that when filed this way, the IRS will have to send a check because they didn’t DIRECTLY deposit your return themselves. So when they say that those who used direct deposit will get their rebates starting today, then millions of us are not actually getting it? I mean, seriously, how many people file directly with the IRS, and how many people use an agency/software?? H&R Block? Turbotax? Jackson-Hewitt? And many others.
So in reality only a very small portion of people will be getting their rebates on time, right? Those that didn’t use a tax preparing service in other words? Now I don’t know about you but I can’t think of one person that I have ever known who didn’t use a tax preparer? I’m so bummed. Why can’t the IRS just send it to whatever preparers’ account that we used and then that agency will be responsible for issuing our rebate. Much faster than waiting for a paper check =(((
Yes I used Turbotax Online software as well and I provided my banking info. as part of the e-filing process. I received a direct deposit from Santa Barbara Bank & Trust. I’m just confused about how the IRS will handle this.
If your direct deposit information was filled out as part of your
taxes, then you will get it direct deposit, no matter who filled it out. if they don’t have the information they can’t send it direct deposit. If you got a refund anticipation loan you will get a paper check.

I checked my 1040 and I used Turbotax. With Turbotax they say it goes to Santa Monica and Trust or something to that effect but when I checked my 1040 it still had my account # and Routing number so to answer your question just as long as you took direct deposit and not a paper check yes it will be direct deposited!

Q: Why can’t the IRS just send it to whatever preparers’ account that we used and then that agency will be responsible for issuing our rebate.
A: Repeat after me: BANKS ARE NOT MY FRIEND!! Never mind that you got raped the first time if you involved a bank to get a Fast Refund or to collect your fee. Here’s the second part of the hose job. They charged you for that service and that service ONLY. Your father in Washington is certainly not going to force his buddies, the bankers, to give you something for nothing, Bankers are not elected. Their job is to skim a fraction of every dollar that passes through their hands.
Now that you get it, do you see why you can’t expect a bank to do you a favor?

When your return was filed *if* you provided the routing and account numbers for your bank or credit union account on the 1040 Form for the IRS to use in Directly Depositing your refund then that is the place that IRS will directly deposit your Stimulus payment.
If you were not due a refund and did not provide bank or credit union routing and account numbers on the 1040 form then IRS will send a paper check to the address you used on the form.
Weather the Stimulus payment will be direct deposited depends upon IF the bank/credit union information was provided on the return
NOT on weather the return was filed using a tax preparation program, done by a tax preparation service, or hand written on a paper form.
So In reality MOST taxpayers will be getting their Stimulus Payments through direct deposit.

This is directly from turbotax website:
“Under certain circumstances, however, the IRS has decided that taxpayers can only get their rebates by mail, even if they get their refunds by direct deposit. At TurboTax, this will happen if you use a “refund transfer” when filing your 2007 return. This service lets you pay for your tax preparation and/or e-filing from your refund proceeds, for an additional fee, under an agreement with Santa Barbara Bank & Trust .
The IRS also says that taxpayers who use “refund anticipation loans” or RALs (loans made to tax filers against their expected refunds) will also be unable to receive their rebates by direct deposit. TurboTax does not offer RALs. ”
So if you paid the turbotax fee by cc you will get Direct Deposit — if you routed through SBB&T you will get a check. Sorry – I know thats not what you want to hear.

I just called the IRS and they told me that as long as your personal banking info is on your actual tax return, that it does not matter which 3rd party handled it, you will receive it direct deposit

Tax Rebate
The federal government is sending each and every one of us a $600 rebate.
If we spend that money at Wal-Mart, the money will go to China.
If we spend it on gasoline it will go to the Arabs.
If we purchase a computer it will go to India.
If we purchase fruit and vegetables it will go to Mexico, Honduras, and Guatemala.
If we purchase a good car it will go to Japan.
If we purchase useless crap it will go to Taiwan…
and none of it will help the American economy.
The only way to keep that money here at home is to buy prostitutes, weed, beer, and tattoos, since these are the only products still produced in the USA.
Thank you for your help & please support the US.
God Bless America
What are you going to do with your tax rebate?
